“Allow this extension to read and change all your data on websites you visit?”
This has to do with Google chrome and how it has set up their browser extension store. When creating the ShopRaise browser extension there is one goal. Make it easy to turn your everyday shopping into support for your cause by providing automated reminders to turn on the ShopRaise app. To make this happen the ShopRaise browser extension needed access to two features provided by google.
1) The extensions need to know if you are visiting one of our participating retailers.
2) The extension needs the ability to display an automated reminder to activate ShopRaise.
The only setting provided by google was to get the ability to read and change all your data on websites you visit. When asking for this permission you will see a popup box when installing the ShopRaise browser extension. If you wish to use the ShopRaise app you need to press the allow button.
Here is how it works. The ShopRaise browser extension reads each url you visit on your browser and compares it to a list of participating merchant urls. If there is a match with the extension, then can display a popup message if the retailer allows it.
To be clear, we do not view or store, or in any way record the websites you visit or any other browsing information. We do not change any of your data at any time except to add the tracking information on participating retailers so you will receive credit for your transaction.
